Milky Rivers in Texas

July saw the onset of tremendous heat... and fireworks!

Dallas Skyline with Happy Fireworks to Start July

The beginning of July seemed to be more dedicated to efforts in capturing shots in the local Wetland Center. I can recall two early mornings in particular that I wanted sunrise shots during their special hours but the rains were ever present. Odd for Texas summers. All was not lost, because where sunrise escaped me I was able to capture a nice moment near a small hummingbird feeder set up on the porch area of the Wetland Center. 6:30am Breakfast Served Up

There was a moment that stood out in my search for good light. It was at the end of a sweltering day. More normal for Texas.
The morning began exactly like detailed above, soaked. Huge clouds filled the sky and there was thunderful lightning strikes abound and all around. (New word: thunderful) After tucking my tail between my legs and sauntering home, we jumped in the car and headed North. Having met up with great friends for a while, we plotted our course South in order to see off a friend of ours who is soon to be an Aussie. Enter the sweltering heat. Goodbyes said and good-lucks wished, we scurried home to grab the remaining seconds of the sun as it teetered above the horizon. A shot I'm hoping will prove to be a contender later this month.

Last Second Sunset

We come to the end of July, now. The heat, firmly settled in. The winds, like a strong blow-dryer connected to an oven located inside of a kiln. What does a photographer do in this situation? He annoys the people around him. It's the peak of Milky Way season and he was robbed of his chance to capture it in June! Not this time, my friends. Not this time. On a little bridge, spanning the distance of the meandering Red River that divides Oklahoma and Texas, stood the two of us. Alone in the dark at ridiculous hours of the night and looking up like two turkeys in a rainstorm, we saw that beautiful starry sky lit up just for us. The end of July brought a much needed...

FINALLY!!!!!!!! Boom Shakka Lakka!

The end.

You Cannot Give Your Life More Time, So Give Your Time More Life

Give Your Time More Life Wall Art - John Manuel Photography Give Your Time More Life There’s something about a quiet evening by the fire that reminds us what truly matters. The sky turns soft with the colors of dusk, fireflies dance in the air, and the sound of laughter drifts over the lake. In this moment, no one is rushing. No one is checking the time. Everyone is simply present — talking, smiling, and being together. We spend so much of our lives counting the hours, planning the next thing, waiting for “someday.” But the truth is simple: we can’t give our life more time — only more meaning. Meaning is found in the small things. Sitting with someone you love. Watching a sunset. Listening instead of speaking. Laughing until your cheeks hurt. When we slow down and give our time more life, the world feels lighter. The days feel fuller. And we start to realize that the best moments aren’t about what we achieve — they’re about who we share them with. So tonight, take a breath. Step...

Love the People that God gave You - John Manuel Photography

Love the People that God gave You - John Manuel Photography This artwork has a very important message: "Love the people that God gave you, because He will need them back one day." Think about that for a moment. It reminds us that the special people in our lives – our moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandmas, grandpas, and best friends – are truly gifts. Our time with them is precious, and we should enjoy every minute. Sometimes, life gets busy, and we forget to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us. This art piece is a gentle nudge, a sweet reminder to: Hug them tighter. Say "I love you" more often. Make happy memories together. Just be there for them. We never know what tomorrow brings, so let's make today count! Let's show our family and friends how much we care, while we still have them close. This beautiful inspirational art is perfect for your home. It can hang in your living room, bedroom, or even your office to give you a warm feeling every da...
