Creation:
It has taken many days to learn how to create and edit my first website, but it is finally at the point with which I am happy to present it to everyone.
As a budding photographer in Dallas, I need a way to set myself apart and/or draw more folks in to what I'm trying to accomplish. I understand that this is a saturated field but that won't stop anyone with a vision. My vision is to have my work adorn the halls and galleries of the largest cities and the most humble homes.
Here's the first write-up about adventures in photography that may go without notice to the rest of the world. My story isn't unlike that of any other landscape and wildlife photographer, but I wish for others to know what it takes to get a good picture.
Traveling three hours West from Dallas, one may find the road a bit barren and devoid of buildings/lights/people. Don't worry, there's other things to keep you company in the desert.
Finding myself in Albany, TX and about nine hours too early to get what I came for, we decided to head out in search of something good to eat. Good news because there are a few choices in this small town. We settled on Mexican food at Los Cazadores and that may have been the best choice in the entire trip.
Food in hand, we drove up to Fort Griffin State Historic Site and unpacked the tent and folding chairs for the long night ahead. Tent set up was quick thanks to the smell of fajitas wafting over the campsite. We opened our folding chairs and plopped down for a feast. This is a good time to mention that our little yorkie-poo made the trip with us and in the comfort of a large nest of pillows.
Dinner over, sun setting rapidly in the West behind the plateaus, we begin to realize how dark our night is about to be. At least we have stars...
We're hunting for the Milky Way and what we know is that it is best seen during a New Moon cycle. We've traveled to the darkest spot we can find this close to Dallas and we're seeing stars at 10:30 pm. We're happy. We're hearing coyotes and owls hunting for food in the distance, but we're happy.
2:00 am and the alarm goes off. We are the only sound around and I nearly smash my phone because my giant thumb isn't nimble enough to swipe the screen however freaking way it needs to turn off the damn alarm. Guess what, absolute cloud cover. Nothing to see this weekend after hours of driving, but the area is beautiful and the people are friendly. We shall return on the next New Moon!
